ADHD is often misunderstood, with many people thinking it’s just a problem with focus, attention, hyperactivity, and disorganization.
ADHD is actually a disorder involving an excess of attention on too many things at once, and difficulty filtering out task irrelevant information, unless something captures intense interest (hyperfocus). This explains why a person with ADHD might have no problem focusing on something like video games or Tik ToK "doom scrolling", but very little ability to focus on reading, homework or workplace tasks.
ADHD is not related to intelligence. It is a performance disorder that interferes with an individuals ability to demonstrate their knowledge. People with ADHD also have lower sensitivity to rewards, which affects their motivation, particularly when rewards are delayed.
It is a complex disorder that can cause significant stress and impairment.
Many people struggle with issues like attention, focus, concentration, procrastination, time management, and social or emotional difficulties.
It is important to determine the cause of these difficulties, as they are common to many psychological, medical, age-related, and hormonal conditions; each having very different treatments.
A thorough assessment of factors such as your background, daily challenges, physical health, hormonal influences, sleep, nutrition, learning difficulties, stage of development, lifestyle, and age-related changes can help determine if ADHD is the cause.

Many experts agree traditional neuropsychological and psychoeducational assessments are not ideal for diagnosing ADHD, as they focus on cognitive skills and academic performance rather than real-world functioning. These tests may overlook key ADHD symptoms, are often costly, and can be hard to access
Our assessment takes a comprehensive approach and includes a thorough evaluation of your developmental and learning history, a medical assessment of organic factors, sleep assessment, analysis of lifestyle factors, psychological symptoms of mood, anxiety, and includes neuropsychological testing using a cognitive assessment battery in the context of a therapeutic relationship - we need to know you, and how your symptoms are impacting your life.
Once all the data is collected, you will receive a comprehensive report including any diagnoses (ADHD or other) and recommendations. If appropriate, we can refer you to a licensed prescribing professional who will determine if medication can assist in treatment of your symptoms or disorder.
